Securing a lender responsive to a fledgling business’s needs.

Drs. Sands and Pineda had a big dream: to build a veterinary hospital and “pet resort” that delivered medical care, service and pampering.  But since the business was brand new—without clients or collateral—they also needed a lender who understood their vision and was willing to accept more risk.

“The bankers and CPAs pointed us toward a ‘strip mall’ location,” recalled Dr. Linda Sands, co-owner of Dogwood Veterinary Hospital & Pet Resort. “But to be able to launch our dream business, we needed a free-standing facility. Our design/build team recommended DS Bennett to help us make it a reality.”

Immediately, DS Bennett helped the practice to get started, clarifying the process and hand-selecting lenders who could work with the special needs of the new business. Ultimately, DS Bennett responded with a creative loan package that leveraged the building site property as collateral, requiring no payments while the facility was being built.

“Everything was done with care and personal interest,” said Sands. “They truly wanted us to succeed.”
